"Reinforcing his belief in the simplicity of means required to transform a creative concept into visual artwork, Kennedy has designed pencils that are labelled with a textual reminder of this point. The pencils are part of a pair along with his wall drawing: one a single, large-scale, immobile and impermanent artwork– the other a small, portable, multiple object that contains and offers infinite possibilities and scales. It was inspired by a small gesture in which his own children were gifted pencils by Zembla Gallery; the editioned work pays forward the generosity – with an allocation being given to schoolchildren attending a workshop during the show, and proceeds from the sale
of others going to support humanitarian relief in Gaza."
